Tracey Ryan

Creative Director & Founder

I am a positive, friendly person who loves working to bring out the best in others.
As a qualified and registered Piano Teacher for over 40 years, I have gained a lot of experience teaching Piano to Beginners through to Diploma Level students.
Based in South Auckland, I am passionate about unlocking the potential in every student, by creating a positive experience and enabling them to grow both their love of music and their ability and skill set.
Here are a few things about me...
Family is a huge part of my life, and I've been blessed to be part of a huge, culturally diverse extended family! Their love of eating has fuelled my love of cooking and hosting! It is my family who has grown my passion for inclusive communities.
Having faced cancer a couple of times in my life, I have a deep appreciation for the various cancer charities, and so I love to support and volunteer for these organizations whenever I can. I also spent many years volunteering and working in my local church to help and support young people in my community.
I love sharing the gift of music and have worked with various music groups and artists, including accompanying and managing tours both around New Zealand and overseas performing in Tahiti, Rarotonga, Samoa, and Australia. During this time I have also been involved in producing four music albums.
Finally… I believe that whatever your age, young or old, four or eighty-four, there is always room to grow.
For me, there are few things more important than making a positive difference in someone's life. Helping others to learn a new skill and to face challenges with confidence are just some of the many 'feathers' I feel I can give others to help them soar high. The more 'feathers' I can gift my students lives with, the higher they will fly, and my greatest joy is to see them do the same for others.

Lucy Massey

Piano Teacher

Lucy began playing piano at a young age and unlocked a love for music. She picked up the flute in primary school, and has been playing both instruments since. Lucy has completed her Trinity grades for both piano and flute and continues to push herself to develop as a musician. “Music has brought so much joy and meaning to my life. I now want to move forward and help other people experience this.”

She has performed as a soloist and in a group settings, taking part in chamber groups, concert bands and orchestras at school. She even had the opportunity to tour Europe and Asia in a school band. “I think music is the ultimate connector, I have been able to communicate with people without even speaking the same language, through music.”

Lucy is currently a student at the University of Auckland and is following her passion alongside her degree, opting to complete her diploma in piano and spread her love for music via teaching. “I am really excited to start teaching with Tracey. I am looking forward to fostering a collaborative and open space for people to develop as musicians”

Becky Sutton

Piano Teacher

Becky began playing the piano at the age of seven after hearing her siblings practise and completely falling in love with music. Since then, she has expressed her passion for music through piano, organ, and voice — performing in school choirs, winning a silver award at the Big Sing Cadenza, and enjoying music-making in many forms, especially loving karaoke with friends!

Becky was a long-term student of Tracey Ryan’s and is a great example of the FunKeyz values in action — nurturing connection and relationships, valuing steady progress, and developing confidence through the mastery of a skill. Her own musical journey has shaped her belief that learning music should be both meaningful and enjoyable.

Currently, Becky is studying towards a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at the University of Auckland. Alongside her studies, she has spent the past two years working part-time at Bricks4Kidz, teaching coding through hands-on, Lego-based learning. She has a strong passion for creativity and enjoys exploring a wide range of artistic outlets in her spare time, including laser cutting, drawing, crochet, and other forms of art.

Becky is excited to begin teaching at FunKeyz and hopes to inspire the same love for music and creative expression in her students that she has experienced throughout her life. She believes that every musical journey is unique and looks forward to using her creativity, colour, and warmth to help students discover their own lasting love for rhythm and sound.

Rebekah's affection for music started in her youth, sparked by piano lessons and the irresistible melodies she heard from the radio. Singing along became her favourite pastime, often transforming her living room into a stage where she performed for her family.
